PET felt acoustic panels are made from polyester fibre derived from recycled plastic bottles. With NRC 0.40-0.90 (depending on installation), CNC-cut bespoke shapes, a wide colour palette and a lightweight build, they are a rising trend for modern offices, education spaces and podcast studios.
What is a felt panel?
PET felt panel is an acoustic product made by converting recycled plastic bottles into polyester fibre and thermally moulding it into felt sheets. Recycled content is 60-100%, qualifying for LEED and BREEAM credits.
Technical data
- NRC: 0.40-0.90 (by thickness + air gap)
- Thickness: 9, 12, 24 mm standard
- Surface weight: 200-400 g/m²
- Fire class: BS 476 Class 0 (certified versions)
- Recycled content: 60-100%
- Colours: 30+ standard
Air gap — the critical factor
Felt panel mounted directly on a wall is weak at low frequency; with a 25-50 mm air gap NRC rises substantially. We recommend air-gap installation on every felt-panel project.
CNC bespoke shapes
One of the felt panel's key strengths is CNC adaptability into complex forms:
- Geometric pattern (triangle, hexagon, wave)
- 3D texture and relief
- Logo or corporate graphic
- Foliage and natural shapes
- Bespoke architectural concept
Where it is used
- Modern offices (phone booth, desk divider)
- Educational spaces (universities, academies)
- Podcast / broadcast studios
- Showrooms and retail
- Cafeterias and restaurants
- Coworking spaces
Environment & health
- Recycled material (sustainable)
- Low VOC emission
- Hypo-allergenic, no fibre release
- Antibacterial versions available
Certification
EN ISO 354 (NRC), BS 476 Class 0, Greenguard Gold (low VOC), GRS (Global Recycled Standard).
