Acoustic ceiling systems deliver sound absorption across a broad range — from mineral fibre, rock wool or metal-panel suspended ceilings to suspended baffles and cloud panels. With NRC 0.70-0.95, modular structure and long life, they are a core part of standard acoustic treatment in offices, hospitals, schools and retail spaces.
What is an acoustic ceiling?
An acoustic ceiling is the sound-absorbing version of a suspended ceiling. Unlike a standard suspended ceiling, the panel face, fill and mounting gap are designed to absorb sound waves. Because the ceiling forms a major part of a room's reflective surface, an acoustic-ceiling intervention alone can dramatically lower RT60.
Which ceiling types are available?
- Mineral-fibre acoustic ceiling: classic 60×60 modular — common in offices and education
- Rock-wool acoustic ceiling: high NRC, top-class fire resistance
- Metal acoustic ceiling: perforated aluminium + acoustic fill, premium look
- Wood acoustic ceiling: warm look, restaurant/hotel
- Suspended baffle (vertical): vertical panels in tall industrial spaces
- Cloud panel (horizontal floating): decorative solution for modern offices and atriums
- Wide-span strip ceiling: linear structure for aesthetics
NRC values and performance
- NRC 0.70 — acceptable minimum (insufficient for high-density spaces)
- NRC 0.80 — suitable for office and education
- NRC 0.90+ — critical acoustic spaces (call centre, education, library)

When are cloud panels and baffles used?
For high-ceiling spaces (above 4 m) or where the existing suspended ceiling cannot be changed, suspended solutions are preferred. Cloud panels hang horizontally; baffles vertically. The natural air gap is large here and low-frequency performance increases. In our practice, baffles are the standard solution for factories and atriums.
